Basic Information
Admittance Requirements: Fully potty trained AND one of the following: Age 5 between August 2 and September 30th; OR Age 5 by August 1 AND not ready for Kindergarten; OR Age 4 by May 31st AND teacher recommendation/test-in
Days/Time: Monday - Friday from 12:45 - 3:45 PM
Class Size: A maximum of 20 students with 2 teachers (10:1 ratio)
Description of Class: A five day a week half-day program for advanced four year old students, young five year old students, and Kindergarten-age students not quite ready for Kindergarten that will prepare children for Kindergarten. We will learn how to socialize with peers, follow directions, and take turns. Students will also work on various academic and fine motor skills in preparation for entering Kindergarten the following school year. We will start with Pre-K standards and will transition to some Kindergarten standards part-way through the school year.

- Identify at least 20 letters by name
- Identify the correct sounds for at least 8 letters
- Identify beginning & ending sounds in some words
- Read & write CVC words with support
- Recognize & read at least 10 sight words
- Identify numbers 1-10 by name & match each to counted objects; also identify some numbers 11-20 by name
- Identify basic shapes by name (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, heart, star, diamond, oval)
- Describe 3-D shapes
- Verbally count to 30 and count at least 20 objects accurately
- Look at a group of objects up to 5 and instantly tell how many there are without counting
- Add and subtract whole numbers within 5
- Copy, extend, and create simple repeating patterns
- Follow multi-step directions
- Write their names
- Write many upper and lower case letters
- Sort objects into groups based on multiple characteristics (ex: color, size, shape)
- Hold and cut with scissors correctly
- Hold a pencil using a 3 point finger grip
- Sit criss-cross at the carpet for group time activities
- Walk quietly in the hallway in a straight line
- Put on coats/jackets independently
